Let's face it, a firearms (change to gun range) range is not for everyone. In (change to with) all the concealed carry classes Virginia has to offer, you won’t always get a quick lesson in how to handle your gun and leave confident in your knowledge. There will be other aspiring gun owners in your midst at varying stages of learning, some firing guns so loud that you can barely hear your instructor. If you already have experience firing a gun and have to take concealed carry classes Virginia requires, you may feel the class is moving at a turtle's pace. No matter how much you already know, the instructor will require you to move at the same pace as everyone else in the class.

Fortunately, concealed carry classes online provide you with a better and alternative option. Although some states have strict requirements for obtaining your gun license, we can provide your instruction here on our site. After taking a specially designed Carrying a Concealed Weapon(change to Carry and Concealed Weapon), or CCW class online, with us, you will be able to apply for your license to conceal/carry in many other states.

How is this possible?

It is true that states have varying requirements for granting weapons permits and licenses. Not every state will be covered by the permits you will apply for after taking our concealed carry classes online. It is important to understand your rights in every state and follow the legal requirements, even if you are traveling and just passing through.

Multi-state Non-resident CCW permits allow you to take our CCW class online and have your gun carrying privileges recognized in other states. If you apply for the license in Virginia, you are covered in 22 additional states. Applying for the Florida non-resident permit gives you recognition in 31 additional states. Utah's permit covers you in 33 states.

States with Liberal Gun Laws

There are some states that have very loose restrictions on guns, requiring no permit to carry a concealed weapon, allowing open carry or both. These states include:

Kentucky honors gun permits from almost all other states, but it requires a permit for concealed weapons. This state also gives permits to those who have a history of domestic violence or domestic restraining orders against them. Federal laws prohibit these individuals from having gun permits.

Also, in the states of Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina (some counties), Oklahoma, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin, you will need a local permit if you actually live in the states mentioned. These states honor the Virginia permit but require residents to obtain their local state permit in order to carry concealed in the state.

Our Online Training

One of the biggest benefits of taking your concealed/carry courses over the Internet is that fact that you can be comfortable while you learning. Being able to watch a video at your own pace ensures you are absorbing the information in the best way for your learning style. You are able to review the information as much as you need in order to retain it.

Online training also gives you the advantage of not having to purchase expensive ammunition for the gun range. In a face-to-face class, you would have to pay for your practice ammunition, eye and ear protection and extra targets. You will also use your own gun and learn in a setting with people you do not know. Our course cuts the cost of commuting to a gun range, and removes the cost of materials you will be required to have thereby allowing you to stay in the comfort of your own home, where you can remain relaxed.

What You Will Learn with our continued education

Gun Laws - Know your 2ND Amendment rights as a citizen of the United States and what your responsibilities are under the law. We will also cover the legal requirements to carry a firearm, rules for transferring and possession and which firearms are prohibited. Your liabilities are determined by federal and local laws, which, in some cases, are constantly changing.

Self-defense - Owning a gun requires a self-defense mindset. You are mostly carrying a gun for protection and will need to understand how this differs from offensive mindsets. This is especially true when considering the act of defending your home, protecting yourself from perpetrators or making a citizen's arrest.

Gun Safety - There are many things you will need to know about how to clean a gun and care for it while it is not in use. These are the primary times to stay keen on gun safety and prevent accidents. You will also learn about proper safety gear, safeguarding your gun from children and proper gripping and stances.

Traveling - Even if you live in a state that prohibits concealed weapons, you may want to take our course and apply for a non-resident permit in another state. This allows you to have the feeling of safety when you are outside of your state. There are specific etiquette and safety tips for traveling by car, public transit, bus or train or plane. You will need to know your boundaries for each.

Ammunition - Before you begin practice firing your firearm, it is important to understand the makeup of a bullet and how it dislodges from your gun. We will give you the basic anatomy of bullets, teach you about loading and unloading guns and show you how to inspect your gun while it is unloaded.

Gun Ranges and Training - Although our course will get you started with responsible gun ownership, it is not the only training you will need for the duration of your time as an owner. We will tell you what kind of training you may need in the future, how often you should update and test your skills and good rules of thumb for practicing. We will also give you tips for being courteous at your local range, from cleaning up ejected brass and washing your face afterwards to keeping your gun pointed downrange and respecting maximum rate-of-fire rules.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there a special time I have to start this online course?

No. You may start the course at any time. As a matter of fact, watching our video and taking the test is FREE! Here is all you need to do after you've submitted your payment(change to registration):

What does the course cover?

Our basic firearm course covers core firearm operation, safety and handling, gun maintenance, federal and local laws, continuing training and defensive mindset. It is designed to help participants qualify to apply for the Virginia concealed carry permit.

What if I fail the test?

We allow you to take the test as many times as you wish for FREE. The videos are also available for you to go back and do additional study, if that helps you boost your knowledge and your score.

Is the permit I receive in the mail good all over the US?

Your permit is a Virginia permit and will be good in this state and all others who honor Virginia permits. So, it will not be recognized in states that do not allow concealed weapons or in states that do not honor Virginia's permit. Please research the local laws for each state you visit.

Currently, Virginia's Non-resident CCW permit is recognized in these states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana*, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia*, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

If you are a legal resident of Alabama, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin, you will also need to have your state's local permit to carry a gun there.

What if the laws change?

Of course, there is a possibility that the laws could change. New bills and updates at both the federal and local level make this a possibility. Currently, you can qualify for the Virginia permit by taking our online course. If the requirements change, your permit would still be valid.

However, if more or fewer states where the Virginia permit is recognized changes, that will affect your legal right to carry a concealed weapon. You will need to monitor the changes so that you are always obeying the law.

What if I don't live in Virginia?

It does not matter. Any US citizen can apply for the Virginia non-resident permit.

Can I just apply for the permit in my local state?

It is not likely without taking a local course. Most states require you take an in-person training course in order to qualify for your local state permit. Our online course would not qualify for that.

Does this course guarantee that I will get approved for the permit?

You are not guaranteed to receive a permit just by completing our course. We are ensuring that you have met the training and education requirements for the permit, but there are other factors, including your background check, that will need to be in compliance with the laws set forth by the state of Virginia. If you fail to submit all of your paperwork or have something in your background that could disqualify you, this may mean that you will not get approved for your permit.

Did Virginia recently announce that it will not recognize permits anymore?

In December 2015 Virginia announced that effective February 1, 2016 they would no longer recognize permits from any but 5 states: Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and West Virginia. It revoked handgun reciprocity permits from 25 states because their concealed weapon laws do not meet Virginia's standards. Those states grant permits to people who are barred under Virginia law, like fugitives, convicted stalkers and drug dealers.

This will not affect people who already have the Virginia concealed carry permit.

What if I already have a permit?

If you already have a permit for your state, we salute you for exercising your rights as a citizen. However, we still believe it would benefit you to have the Virginia CCW permit. Our course will enable you to apply for a Non-resident CCW permit that will be honored when you are traveling in any of the states that recognize Virginia permits. There is nothing wrong with having multiple permits; just to be sure you are covered.
